Critical Role Season Four Unveils the Fighters Party

Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a wide array of personalities, and a exciting storyline showcasing angels, fiends, and sinister influences expanding in power within Dol-Makjar.

Note: Key plot points for Episode 3 of this adventure lie ahead.

The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed

The third episode ended with a huge suspense moment and introduced the premier party of heroes who will separate from the central cast to begin their independent quest, apart from the additional parties.

The combat-focused team features Teor (portrayed by Travis Willingham), Thimble (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).

The Reason for Division

Considering a large ensemble, it was obvious from the start that maintaining everyone at a single group would be impossible.

That’s why, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Prelude, intertwining the personal journeys before splitting into three smaller tables: Fighters, Planners, and Questers.

What Defines the Soldiers Table

Per the DM, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who prefer a typically action-packed fight-heavy story mode where diplomatic options are rare.

At first glance, characters like the reluctant priest the cleric might look mismatched, but the events of episode 3 show why these five characters are ideally matched for the warrior group.

Reasons to Leave

First, the party understands precisely where to head next after a violent opening clash with the antagonists.

An old friend of the deceased character—whose demise kicked off the narrative’s action—manipulated the enemy for his selfish purposes, invading the secret base, assaulting Thimble, and swiping all the powerful objects to dispose of.

The antagonist then paid off his debts and ran away to a fortified location in the remote area, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd close behind.

Character Drivers

Additionally, each member has a personal reason to depart the metropolitan area:

  • The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, wants revenge.
  • The knowledgeable figure knows the northern area and warns that it is a hostile location.
  • The strong character and The cleric, having resisted his family’s wishes to execute the target and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
  • However, their status as important members in the influential clan could help the group reach areas they normally couldn’t.
  • Moreover, The grateful character vowed a life debt to The cleric for his deliverance and will now go with him everywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

In addition, all of them are sought by the authorities that rule the setting for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind too risky:

  • The rogue and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The warrior and Wicander defied House Halovar and the legion of demons they are allied with.
  • Teor is marked for death by the clan.

This results in them little choice but to head to the remote area in search of Casimir.

Upcoming Developments

According to the latest episode’s post-show segment, we find out that the combat party will be absent the following episode, leaving the other eight players to round up the Explorers and Schemers tables.

Fans can anticipate discovering which characters will be where in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on next week.
